Holiday movies ring in the season

Once December hits and school starts getting stressful students say turning on a Christmas movie is what actually makes it feel like the holidays.

For junior Lilly Anderson, the holidays officially begin when her family curls up on the cloud to watch Home Alone.

“It’s our tradition,” Anderson said. “The movie’s a staple in our house. My brothers even try the aftershave scream every year.”

Other students prefer something more magical. Sophomore Jayden Collins said he looks forward to The Polar Express every year.

“It makes me feel like a little kid again,” Collins said. “The music and the whole atmosphere just feel like Christmas.”

Senior Megan Brown said Elf is her go-to because it always makes her laugh.

“It doesn’t matter how many times I’ve seen it,” Brown said. “Buddy the Elf still gets me.”

Whether you watch something nostalgic or something comedic, students say Christmas movies are an easy way to chill and feel more festive. And with break getting closer every day, you can tell holiday spirit is definitely starting to spread.
