Valentine’s Day leads to variety of plans

As Valentine’s Day approaches, students are making plans that range from relaxing hangouts to traditional celebrations. While some are focusing on relationships, others say the day is more about friends and self-care than romance.

For students in relationships, Valentine’s Day is a chance to spend intentional time together. “We’re not doing anything huge,” junior Ava Thompson said. “We’re just going out to eat and then watching a movie, which honestly feels much more special.”

Others say they plan to celebrate with friends instead. Many students are opting for group activities such as movie or game nights. “My friends and I are doing our annual Galentine’s night,” senior Maya Rodriques said. “It’s less pressure and way more fun.”

Some students say they don’t feel the need to celebrate at all. Instead, they plan to treat the day like any other. “I’ll probably just stay home and relax,” sophomore Tyler Brooks said. “Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be a big deal.”

Whether students are spending the day with a partner, friends, or by themselves, many agree that Valentine’s Day is what you decide to make of it.
