Prince Phillip passing inspires TikTok videos

Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh recently passed away due to natural causes on April 9 two months shy of his 100th birthday and was laid to rest last Saturday at Windsor Castle. 

Prince Phillip’s death announcement became viral on the popular app Tik Tok. Many videos surfaced before his passing with users joking about the Prince’s old age, with videos being titled “Things that would definitely kill Prince Phillip.” His passing left Tik Tokers shocked. 

Prince Phillip is well known for his outspoken right-wing views, and for being the husband of Queen Elizabeth II, and the father of their heir, Charles, prince of Wales, Anne, Princess Royal, Prince Andrew, Duke of York, and Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex.

Prince Phillip served as the nation’s longest running concort, being married to Queen Elizebeth II for 73 years. 

Royal family stan Maya Johnson says she wasn’t necessarily shocked by his passing. “It wasn’t really a shocker hearing about Prince Phillip’s passing due to his old age. He underwent  a lot of controversy throughout the years; however, he served the people of his country really well and was honored and cherished and forever will be,” Johnson said. 

Prince Phillips’ wife Queen Elizabeth II said farewell to her late husband at his funeral alongside her children and grandchildren while social distancing and wearing a mask. His funeral had a limited attendance of 30 people, while following COVID procedures. Many images surfaced showing the Queen sitting alone at his funeral, because of her strictly adherd COVID restrictions.
