Community offering variety of Christmas events

Christmas is right around the corner, a holiday that brings families and communities together. In the Cedar Valley coming together as a community is important. Many holiday gatherings and events take place in the Cedar Valley. 

Dec. 10-12, from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. at Lost Island Waterpark KOA Resort is an event sponsored by House of Hope. The event is a Festival of Light, walking through a display of lights while live Christmas and holiday music plays in the background. The music will be performed by local musicians. Hot chocolate and cookies will be available from the hot chocolate truck. Admission is $20, and all proceeds will go to House of Hope. 

Tuesday, Dec. 14, Candeo Church will be hosting an event full of holiday cheer at Christmas with Oakridge. The event will have opportunities to join in with Christmas carolers, participate in crafts and enjoy holiday cookies. The fun starts at 4 p.m. and ends at 7:30 and is located inside Candeo Church. 

Dec. 18, at 10 a.m., the Cedar Falls Community Theater will be showing a free Christmas movie. The movie The Grinch is for all families and any ages. Additionally, a coloring contest winner will be announced. At the River Place Plaza Santa and his elves will be in his workshop from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. 

Sunday, Dec. 19, at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., the Gallagher Bluedorn in Cedar Falls will be showing a live musical of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Tickets are anywhere from $34-$60.
