CF students taking part in upcoming performance of Frozen Junior

Cedar Falls students Ryan Marten, Ella Stineman, Kaitlyn Cox and Addy Breddin all have roles in the upcoming musical Frozen Junior at the Black Hawk Children’s Theatre in Waterloo. Marten is playing the role of Christoff, Stineman is playing the role of Elsa, Cox is in the ensemble and Breddin is playing the role of Sven.

“I enjoyed transforming into a new character and stepping out of my comfort zone. It’s such a fun thing to do, and I love doing it with all kinds of people,” Cox said.

The Black Hawk Children’s Theatre holds many opportunities for all kinds of young actors in the community. The theater does many productions for adults and children each year, and they recently did a production of Elf in December.

I loved meeting new people who get me and don’t judge me right out of the gate. Everyone was so kind, helpful, and inviting to the space,” Coxs said.

This is the first out of many productions set to happen this year. In February and March there will be the production of Rocky Horror Show, and in April will be the productions of Judy and Stink

“I really appreciate the way that these actors are supportive of each other—at least that’s what it seems to me. They are a really collaborative group and I love the way they have all come together to play,” director Anita Ross said.

The production dates are Jan. 21, 22, 23, 28, 29 and 30. Ross said anyone can buy tickets online here to support fellow Tigers and community theater.

“People should come see this show because of the extraordinary talent they will see on the stage. The story is heart-warming, the actors are amazing … what more could you need?” Ross asked.
