Students recall holiday traditions

As the Christmas season approaches, families prepare for the weeks filled with love, tradition and hope. While the details vary from home to home, each is sure to hold cherished memories.

While many students focus on presents, most believe the true meaning of Christmas is creating memories with loved ones that are sure to last years.

“I’m especially excited for Christmas this year but that comes along with its own string of anxiety,” senior Laura James said. “It’s my last year before I leave home; gotta make it count.”

While some feel pressure to make the season memorable, others say their traditions have grown on them.

“My family has always been the kind to put the tree up the day after Halloween,”  junior Zoe Davis said. “It bothered me how they wanted Christmas to come so soon but it’s slowly become one of my favorite family traditions for the season.”

“You could compare my Christmas to Thanksgiving with how much food we have,” sophomore Sarah Williams said. “Everyone contributes their part to make a huge Christmas feast every year.”

While each Christmas tradition varies, each is sure to bring a sense of love and nostalgia.
