CFHS 2025 graduate Owen Brinker is the new Special Olympics coach. It is his first year coaching.
Brinker said, “ I wanted to become a coach because I have always liked working with students in Special Olympics. I was able to volunteer while I was in high school, and I wanted to continue doing that, so I started to coach. Additionally. The previous coaches decided to take a step back from coaching, so they thought it was the perfect time to start.”
There are 13 participants, of whom nine are in track and field. Participants won first-place medals at Districts. They will attend the state track and field Special Olympics held in Ames on May 22.
Maya Jensen, a senior, is one of the track and field particpants. She said, “I enjoy being a part of a team and practicing to get better.
Paxton Lippert, a sophomore, is also going to State in track and field, and Lippert said that track and field is fun, and “I really enjoy the softball throw.”
