From manning the spotlights, building props and painting the sets to sewing the costumes and pulling the curtain, there are plenty of opportunities for students to get involved in the CFHS drama department. Casper Morgan, makeup and costume crew member for the fall play, encouraged new people to get involved:
“It is such a supportive atmosphere that fosters creativity,” he said. “There’s something for everyone to do.”
Morgan said that not a lot of people know about this opportunity, but that the community is just as welcoming and fun as the acting one onstage. Caper has acted in three shows at the high school: The Cages we Build, Beauty and the Beast, Greeks Gone Wild and Spongebob. This is his first time doing tech. He also designed the poster for Silver Belles, this year’s fall play.
“There’s so much more to a play than just the actors on stage,” he said. “Tech really makes it work.”
Casper said that while the actors work in the spotlight, the crew makes the whole show possible by controlling the lights, sound, costumes and more.
He also said he wants people thinking about joining to know that it’s a very rewarding job. “It’s so wonderful to see everything come together before opening night.”
Casper said everyone should come see Silver Belles, and to join tech in the spring when the drama department puts on Les Miserables.
