After first quarter, students digging in for success

It’s the end of the first quarter of the 2021-2022 school year. Students worked hard last week to get their grades where they want them, and teachers just finished grading and requesting students for retakes. Students just finished last minute tests and worked on completing all assignments before grades were submitted last week, so here are some tips for students to get the next quarter off to a good start.

The biggest thing with the beginning of the quarter is to study for the starting tests so students can get 4s and 3s, passing their tests. Sites that students can use to study are Quizlet, Quizizz, Desmos (for math classes) and Vista Higher Learning (for language classes). Students can also use study guides and other classmates to review.

Bill Boevers, principal at Peet Junior High, said that it’s important for students to get their grades up and focus on anything less than a B. Students who are not proficient will be “yellow lined in Tiger Time, meaning they cannot go to the cafeteria, gym or enrichments until they have made up their work.”

Students should continue the work ethic from the first quarter so that they can start this quarter with the best grades possible. By using different studying techniques and working with classmates and teachers, it’s possible to start the second half of the semester with all proficient grades.
