Hispanic Heritage Month coming wrapping up Oct. 15

Hispanic Heritage Month started on Sept. 15 and ends on Oct. 15.  This year’s theme is  Unidos: Inclusivity for a Stronger Nation. The meaning of this theme is that we can all be united in celebrating the ways in which hispanic and latinx people help enrich our nation.

Mexico’s independence day was on Sept. 16. It is widely celebrated from Chicago to Mexico City to Spain, etc. Celebrating hispanic heritage month really brings us all together and recognizes all the hard work Mexicans and latinx people have done.

For example, it makes us feel proud of who we are and that we shouldn’t be ashamed of where we come from and that we should embrace and to be proud of our roots.

In my family we really don’t celebrate hispanic heritage month since it’s just a regular month for us.

This year we recognized Katya Echazarreta for becoming the first Mexican born woman to go to outer space.  She is a great example for all Mexican and latinx kids to dream big and to reach your dreams. She really represented us to show people that dreams can come true.
