Holmes shares favorite holiday foods

During the holidays, foods that you’ve eaten every year can make you feel nostalgic and at home. These foods differ from person to person. Here are some favorite holiday foods of students at Holmes Junior High.

 

Marie Darst:

Q: What’s your favorite holiday food? A: My favorite holiday food is probably gingerbread.

Q: Why? A: I’ve always enjoyed it because of the excessive amount of cinnamon. 

Q: How long has this food been a tradition for you?A: I’ve enjoyed it since I was a little kid when my grandma first introduced me to all things cinnamon! 

Q: Do you have a favorite holiday tradition that involves food?: A: Every year, my mom has a tradition where on Christmas Eve, my whole family drives around to look at Christmas lights as we drink hot cocoa and eat Christmas cookies!

 

Morgan Ferch:

Q: What’s your favorite holiday food? A: I love eating peanut butter cookies with chocolate stars

Q: Why? A: My grandma always makes them around Christmas time and the chocolate sort of melts into the cookie.

Q: How long has this food been a tradition for you? A: My grandma has been making them ever since I can remember.

Q: Do you have a favorite holiday tradition that involves food? A: I love making this holiday treat where you take pretzel rods, dip them in melted chocolate, and cover them with holiday sprinkles. I have made these with my grandma ever since I remember and it´s our own little tradition.

 

Kaylee Stitchman:

Q: What’s your favorite holiday food? A: Cream cheese with crab meat and cocktail sauce on top, we eat it on crackers.

Q: Why? A: It’s one of the appetizers that me and my sister like to eat.

Q: How long has this food been a tradition for you? A: It has been at every single Christmas Eve with my family since I was born. 

 

Bela Hafermann

Q: What’s your favorite holiday food? A: I think I’ll go with homemade brownies and ice cream.

Q: Why? A: This became my favorite when I made brownies on my own for the first time. I was so excited that my family and I made it a big thing, so it’s kind of gone on from there.

Q: How long has this food been a tradition for you? A:  About three-four years.
