The conference championships are over, and Super Bowl LVII is set. On Feb. 8, the Kansas City Chiefs will face the Philadelphia Eagles. As fans eagerly anticipate the big game, many are sharing their predictions on who will come out on top and who will earn Super Bowl MVP honors.
Freshman Wesley Dean believes the Eagles will win, but he attributes their success to one standout player.
“I believe the Eagles will win because of Jalen Hurts,” Dean said. “He’s been carrying them all year. I’m also picking Hurts to win the MVP.”
Sophomore Xavier Montgomery also predicts an Eagles victory, though he’s a bit skeptical about their chances.
“I’d like to think the Eagles are good enough to win, but I’m not sure how much the refs will interfere,” Montgomery said. Despite his concerns, he’s confident in his MVP pick. “I believe Hurts will win MVP because quarterbacks usually take home the award.”
Montgomery’s assumption is supported by recent history. In four of the last five Super Bowls, the MVP has been awarded to a quarterback.
On the other hand, freshman Carsen Hunt is picking the Chiefs to win—but it’s not because of any love for the team.
“I hope the Chiefs will win because I don’t want the Eagles to win. As a Vikings fan, I have a grudge against them after they beat us in the 2018 NFC Championship Game,” Hunt said. Despite his personal bias, he offered a reasonable prediction for MVP. “I think Travis Kelce will win because voters may be experiencing fatigue from Patrick Mahomes always getting the award.”
Freshman Jake Kuhn also sees the Chiefs coming out on top, but he believes they’ll do so without making mistakes.
“I think the Chiefs will win because they won’t make any mistakes, whereas the Eagles will make one that costs them the game,” Kuhn said. He’s also confident in Mahomes winning MVP. “I believe Mahomes will take home the MVP because the league is pushing the narrative that he’s the best quarterback.”
No matter who wins, Super Bowl LVII is sure to be a memorable showdown between two powerhouse teams.
