Cedar Falls High School has officially named its Student Senate executive team for the 2025–2026 school year, already laying the groundwork for an exciting and impactful term.

James Peng (junior) — President

Returning to Senate leadership after serving as Vice President, James Peng steps into the role of president with a vision centered on inclusion, service and school spirit. Peng is known not just for his leadership in the Senate, but also through his involvement in athletics, arts and club leadership, including as president of the volunteer club and co-president of the Environmental Awareness Team (EAT).

“I want to continue using my platform to create positive change, whether it’s through service fundraisers such as ping-pong and mini-golf tournaments, expanding environmental projects like our plant wall technology, or bringing back popular events like the 3v3 basketball tournament,” Peng said.

Marcus Tomlyanovich (junior) — Vice President

As vice president, Marcus Tomlyanovich brings energy, along with a deep commitment to teamwork and problem-solving. He will draw upon his experiences as an athlete and active member of multiple student organizations.

“My goal is to represent every student’s voice and turn your concerns into action,” Tomlyanovich said. “Leadership isn’t about speaking the loudest—it’s about listening the hardest.”

Tomlyanovich, who coined the campaign slogan “Vote JAMMAR 2026” with Peng, plans to focus on increasing student involvement and making sure the senate reflects the needs and wants of the  student body.

Amanda Finck (junior) — Secretary

Amanda Finck brings enthusiasm and a strong sense of purpose to her new role as secretary. With a passion for communication and collaboration, she said she hopes to ensure that students are kept in the loop and feel empowered to contribute their ideas.

Riley Castro (junior) — Treasurer

A new addition to the CFHS community, Riley Castro brings valuable experience from serving as class treasurer at her previous school in Tennessee. With a background in athletics and women’s leadership, she is focused on responsible budgeting and meaningful fundraising.

Castro’s goals include hosting creative fundraisers that support both student activities and local community causes, helping make the high school a stronger, more unified place.

Ella Gardner (sophomore) — Communications Officer

With years of student leadership experience, Gardner is set to take on the communications officer role with dedication and clarity. A sophomore involved in numerous extracurriculars, Gardner understands the importance of visibility and transparency.

“As communications officer, I want to ensure that every student knows what’s going on and how to get involved. I’m excited to help foster a stronger sense of community through better communication,” Gardner said.

Gardner plans to revamp social media presence and expand the senate’s reach so students are better informed about upcoming events and opportunities.
