After a disappointing 11th-place finish at State last year, women’s swimming is back with a vengeance, working hard to be the No. 1 team in 4A.
So far this year, they have defeated every team they have been matched up with by huge numbers.
The Tigers have a returning State competitor, Montana Clasby.
She scored for the Tigers at state as a freshman and again as a sophomore.
After taking a break from swim team in her junior year, she’s back and making a splash in the faces of competition.
Her two main events are the breaststroke and the individual medley.
Senior captain Kelsey Abbas said she is happy with the season so far.
“I’m surprised in a good way.
I’m happy how everyone else has stepped up, especially the sophomores and freshmen.”
The Cedar Rapids Cougars have 10 returning varsity swimmers and have a record of 6-1.
On Tuesday, Oct. 4, the Tigers will be competing with the Cougars at 6 p.m. at home.
