As junior Brandon Jerome crouched down, spotting his next move down the pocket, his next strike would clinch the Tigers a 5-0 record, the fastest start for the men’s bowling team ever.
Since then, the Tigers have added one more win and their first loss when they faced Linn-Mar, to update their record to 6-1.
Coach Brad Baker said he has seen major improvement from the Tiger bowling squad as he hopes to compete in the state tournament this year. Jerome, who is a key bowler, has had a personal record this year of scoring a 267, helping the Tigers lock down their solid start. Baker said, “I think the part I enjoy the most about bowling is seeing the team shoot their personal bests and how they are constantly working to improve every practice.”
Another key bowler, junior Jackson Reynolds, has an average of 210 to contribute to the bowling team’s success. Reynolds looks to carry his team as well through the season. Reynolds said, “My goal for this year is to win Districts and advance on to State.”
The season for the Tigers has been a rolling success while competing against teams who have similar records as Cedar Falls, and this Friday, the bowling team will take on Dubuque Senior hoping to strike another win and keep the successful season on a straight lane to State.
