Athlete of the Week: Caeden Janssen

Senior Caeden Janssen caught the game winning touchdown against No. 3 ranked Cedar Rapids Prairie last Friday night with seven seconds left to propel the Tigers to a win.

For you, what was a highlight of your most recent competition?

Scoring the winning touchdown against Cedar Rapids Prairie.

What makes your sport special and different?

All 11 players on the field need to be on the same page and know their job for the team to be successful.

How long have you been into this sport and, and what were the early days of your participation?

I’ve been playing football since I was 5

How did/do you cope with any setbacks/losses you’ve experienced in your sport?

Keep working hard and don’t dwell on it.

Who has been particularly influential in helping your growth in this sport?

My coaches and my parents.

What do you do to prepare yourself before a game?

Listen to music and get locked in and make sure I know what I am suppose to do on certain plays.

How do you work on improving your skills in this sport?

Keep going to practice and working hard on my route.

What’s a personal skill that you are targeting lately?

I want to have 500+ receiving yard.

Do you have plans to play this sport after high school?

Yes, I am committed to play football at Upper Iowa.

What’s the most rewarding thing about your sport?

When we win and everyone does what they need to do to win the game. 

What has been a highlight for you/your team so far this season?

We are 2-1 and our defense is looking really solid. Obviously, winning like we did against Prairie is a big highlight.

As you see it, what are the biggest tests remaining for you/your team yet this season?

We have a tough schedule coming up, but we are prepared.
