Still time to join winter, spring eSports seasons

Another year of Esports has begun, and with a new year means more opportunities to join Esports. While it may be too late to join this fall season they will still be having winter and spring seasons.

Esports advisors Brian Unruh and Shane Paige have been advising eSports for seven years. The team meets every weekday except Fridays, below Cohesive Creative and Code, Inc. Through those seven years they have hosted many games, including chess, Smash Brothers, Rocket League, Minecraft, Halo, Valorant, Rainbow Seige and Apex Legends all this season.

Senior Noah Labrie has been playing for three years. He plays Rainbow Siege this year for the team. He said he is involved because “it looks much better for colleges for how much effort you have to put into it.”

Junior Joshua Dowd has been playing for one year, and he plays Valorant and chess. He recommended eSports because “anybody can find anything they enjoy.”

While it is too late to join this season, there will be winter and spring seasons where there may even be new games. Unruh said, “Kids can bring their own stuff in or we’ve got computers and some Switches and X-Boxes at the arena.”
