Athlete of the Week: Katie Remmert

  1. For you, what was a highlight of your most recent competition?

The whole atmosphere of being at State was amazing, and getting to play in front of most of the school and all of our parents was really fun and exciting.

  1. What makes your sport special and different?

You get really close to your teammates and build bonds that you wouldn’t necessarily make on other teams. Everyone has to play together on the court, and that starts with the bonds that are created off the court.

  1. How long have you been into this sport, and what were the early days of your participation?

I’ve been playing volleyball since third grade, and that was when I started playing club volleyball.

  1. How did/do you cope with any setbacks/losses you’ve experienced in your sport?

I learned from my mistakes and changed those things in order to make myself a better player.

  1. Who has been particularly influential in helping your growth in this sport? Why?

All of my coaches, whether it be on my club or school team, have been influential in helping me grow because they have pushed me to become the best player and person I can be on and off the court.

  1. What do you do to prepare yourself before a game?

First, I pray with Alivia Bronner. Then our whole team does a dance circle.

  1. How do you work on improving your skills in this sport?

In the off season I do club volleyball, so I am constantly working to improve my skills.

  1. What’s a personal skill that you are targeting lately?

Being mentally tough when things aren’t going well on the court.

  1. Do you have plans to play this sport after high school, what are those plans?

Yas, I do plan to play in college.

  1. What’s the most rewarding thing about your sport?

You get to make friends with people that you might not have ever talked to if they weren’t in volleyball, and you get to be a part of a team that wants the best for all of the people on it.

  1. What has been a highlight for you/your team so far this season?

Making it to State.

  1. As you see it, what are the biggest tests remaining for you/your team yet this season?

Well, our season is over, so I would say getting better in the off season in order to get back to state next season.
