The British are invading Holmes as students prepare for their annual variety show under the theme “The British Invasion” in pop culture. They have acts from Shakespeare and James Bond to modern artists such as Lorde and a song from the musical “Hamilton.” Harry Potter and his gang will also make an appearance as the emcees for the night.
The stars will premiere on Thursday, Feb. 23 in a matinee for elementary sixth graders, followed by two evening shows on Friday, Feb. 24 and Saturday, Feb. 25 that will be open to the public. Tickets will be sold at the door for $5 per adult, and $2 per child.
New directors Alice Pruisner and Ashley Cardamone join senior director Leesa Talbot to bring the show to life. “Congrats to all the directors new to this show or not. This must be such a hard job, so props to them for making this happen,” freshman Sam Lubs said.
Student performers are confident that this show will be a winner. Freshman Medha Patel said, “It may be shorter than in previous years, but it is going to be packed with loads of awesome.”
Other students such as freshman Lydia Ochoa reminisced on their variety show experiences. “Variety show has introduced me to new friends I never would’ve met. We have all worked so incredibly hard to make this show the best it can be,” Ochoa said.
There is one thing for certain. Students have been working incredibly hard to get the show to be perfect. “It’s late nights, and a lot of times we get pretty stressed, but it’s for the better,” freshman Abby Balong said.
